Free Clinic of Franklin County announces
appointment of new executive director

Donna Minnix Proctor has been appointed by the Board of Directors as the new executive director of the Free Clinic of Franklin County. The announcement was made today by the President of the Clinic’s Board, Gail Abbott.

Proctor joins the Clinic after having served most recently as the executive director of the Grace Network of Martinsville and Henry County, and prior to that as the executive director of the Bedford Community Health Foundation.

“Donna’s extensive experience in both the healthcare and non-profit arenas, coupled with her leadership experience and passion for helping others, are exactly what the Free Clinic of Franklin County and its patients need,” Abbott said. “With her knowledge and experience, ties to Franklin County residents, and energy, we are excited to welcome her aboard.”

Proctor’s primary responsibilities as Executive Director include marketing and fundraising, strategic vision, business planning, and managing the clinic’s operations and staff.

“I am very excited to have this opportunity to serve my home community,” Proctor said.  “The Free Clinic is essential to the hurting families in Franklin County and I am grateful to be a part of this good work.”

A native of Boones Mill, Va., Proctor earned an MS degree in Community Health Education as well as a BS degree in Human Nutrition and Foods, both at Virginia Tech.

The Free Clinic provides services through more than 2,400 primary care visits annually and dispenses more than 14,000 prescriptions each year. The Clinic, which relies on donations and grants as it doesn’t receive any federal funding, delivers $7.45 of care for every dollar received.
